I am from whispered secrets
And beaten lies
From an absent love
A love that could not be shown
Where the signature drew the line
I am from Cold nights and Cold thoughts
From a warmth hidden in Desire,
An inadequate fallacy, fueling my fire
I am from the broken pair
That I thought would never die
From my Heroes lost, and Heroes gone
Songs sung in the backyard dawn
This is where I'm From

I am from Big boys Don't cry
Revealed as a lie
From dirt on white and Ramen scattered,
Broken on the floor
I am from the witch of the North
Who moved quickly to the West
From the Father whipped and chained
Following in her steps
I am from the broken home
Patched up many times
Where my mind has told me,
Nothing's wrong, Everything is fine
I am from forgotten memories
Lost again with Rhyme
Happiness just had to do
And with Joy I intertwined
This is where I'm From

I am from the Mystic Wood
Where Corruption became my friend
The longing for a better end
I am from the battlefield playground
From Long-slept nights and Long-played days
Too often I made the sound
Of a squeaky Trumpeteer
I am from the Middle label,
Hideous it was
Dampened on my self-esteem
Who else would be the judge?
From forgotten paths and new paved roads
The ones I chose in my repose
This is where I'm From

I am from the dark black lab
Who laid her Ralph upon the floor
From the twice lost fellow Pine,
Basking in the Sun
I am from the burning trees
The ones left in her eyes
From Ocean blue to Ocean gray,
The mask of the disguise
I am from the gentle marriage
Of Passion's soft pink skin
From the heart-shaped wax,
Never lit, once again
Our Flame in the rain
I sang my lonely song
This is where I'm From

I am from the faultered ground
Where I tried to place my feet
From a speck of dust lost in the wind
A month from then we'd meet again
I am from a deserving end
Where Hope came from his evergreen
The last one I could see
From Darkened halls and Darkened hearts
From where I longed to be
I am from a Lonely road
Where Faith has led me astray
To lovely wings up in the sky
That lift me far away
An Eternity in happiness
Has washed out all the gray
Never will it end, Never will it change
This is where I'm Going

Okay....I know it's weird but I do write poetry. Aaaand this is my first submission in the "poetry" department on DA. It was an assignment for English class. We were supposed to write a poem about where we are from and all of the examples read were happy and seemingly fake. So I tried my best to apply an honesty to my words. Cause when I thought about the assignment, I thought of the sadness and brokeness that had happened in my life. A sad, but true aspect of all our lives that we should embrace and understand, rather than just cover it up with a fake sense of happiness. I know it doesn't have a perfect rhythm or rhyme, but it was written to the beat of my heart. This poem is from me.......and I hold it dearly. Oh....and I hope it's not too confusing. I used a lot of metaphors and symbolism to portray my ideas.

It doesn't have an over obvious rhythm to it, but thats not a bad thing. I hate those forcefully rhyming poems. Saw you gotten into playing the guitar? Did you try putting in some rhythm with the guitar? Who knows maybe you got a killer song on your hands ;) All you might need then is a corus.

Happy days man, happy days :)

Hmm.. Makes me realize once again everyone is a poet in my eyes.Even photographers or painters or maybe.youre just a beautiful version of human and can be anything you desire.
I loved this really. And even if I barely know you there was this incredible "you wrote it" feeling tied to it..and I really felt it through each line.
And I agree with the fact that we should learn to accept even the tragedies, the flaws and mistakes in our life. They are in the end what shaped us.
Not those long periods of sweet nothing.
hope you are doing well and thank you so much for caring , really. You are immensly kind and I can just hope everyone in your life knows that

And I stood. On the hill and realized there were two nightskies. The one above me.And the one under me,the city. With the thousand sparkling lights. And both were just as hard to explain.

awesome! I love writing poetry too. That's so rad to have multiple talents such as photography and writing. Anywho, you have a very good choice of words in this work. I hope your teacher has something to write about it when you turn it in instead of just a grade (which of course would be an A, hehe) I like when teachera write what they felt about your papers. It makes it all worth it. :)

look at the sky, and
never trust a fox.
We sit together,
The mountain and I,
'Til only the mountain remains.

This was truely beautiful . It made me feel things i didn't know i had and i hope you will be able to get everything you want and not have to deal with thoose things too much. I especially loved the ramen part , something so trivial made into poetry i really felt liek i could see it and felt like i could see you. have a great vacation.

Very Whitman, dear Bernie.
The "I am from" expression fits perfectly with the composition... with you.

I liked it and I like it very much.
